Schools for
Entrepreneurship licences are available to suitable Secondary Schools and
Colleges under Workright Australia’s alliance arrangements with
Baylor University (Texas, USA).
A School for Entrepreneurship is licensed to offer their student body courses
(which lead to qualifications) in Sales, Marketing, Sales Management,
Marketing Management, Small Business Management, and Entrepreneurship
(Business Development).
Workright Australia’s Executive Management Team has on several occasions at
Statewide and National Educational conferences, recorded concern as to the
limited "VocEd" or "VET" programs available to certain student groups.
Concerns have included:
|
There is no viable
alternative VocEd program for strong academic students; |
|
There are few viable
alternative VocEd programs for non-academically oriented
students that have no interest in trades, retail or IT
careers; |
|
Gifted students are limited
in their VocEd choices; |
|
Students with natural
entrepreneurial capabilities have no opportunity to
develop their skills. Business Management courses are
available, however are strongly administrative in
structure, rather than entrepreneurial; |
|
Students with different
learning styles (particularly interpersonal learning
styles) are not catered for; |
|
VocEd is seen by many as a
"soft option" or "irrelevant"; and |
|
Levels of qualifications
generally approved within schools are usually at
Certificate I to III level – which may limit the
development of many students who are potentially capable
of a higher level of understanding. |
Two Certificate programs, based
on the Baylor Entrepreneurship programs have been aligned
against the Business Services Training Package, and are now
available for schools.
These two programs are fully aligned against National
Competency Standards and are available for delivery, under
the auspices of Workright’s Centre for Entrepreneurship:
|
Certificate IV in Business
(Marketing); |
|
Certificate IV in Business
Development. |
